Commitment of Support
BANGON ILOILO welcomes support from donor agencies and organizations to fund projects geared towards the rehabilitation of flood-stricken communities.
These projects should lead to:
- The creation of sustainable livelihood projects for affected households;
- The establishment of support facilities and services for housing, health and water;
- The introduction of sustainable ecological initiatives for reforestation, sustainable agriculture and water resource management; and
- The strengthening of the coordination and collaboration of disaster management responses.
We seek initiatives that support the following:
Sustainable Livelihood Development
- Prepare comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation plans
- Support or scale up livelihood productivity for households
- Explore opportunities for jobs and service contracts (e.g. maintenance, utilities, construction and other services)
- Support entrepreneurial projects
- Promote and support training and development for sustainable livelihood activities
- Small business advising
- Agricultural technology development
Ecological Systems Development
- Community-managed disaster preparedness planning and management
- Support reforestation and agro-forestry systems development in the upland areas of Iloilo province
- Promote ecologically-friendly business and government projects and practices
Civic Engagement
- Strengthening and mobilization of the Municipal Disaster Coordinating Council (MDCC) for the planning and implementation of the rehabilitation projects
- Coordination of information and knowledge management to assist MDCC
- Support to existing beneficiaries and partners groups to become civic-minded organizations
- Provision of basic services (water, housing, healthcare and service infrastructures)
